You all know the concept of the Iron Chef, right? Well, Brian Rogers has come up with a brilliant idea for flash fiction. Each week four challengers will write a 500 word flash fiction piece, weaving in the four bizarre elements Brian will provide. All genres, except erotica are accepted and there is a three day time limit for writing the story. Could it be more fun?
For instance, in Challenge #2, in which I was a participant, we were given these elements:
- A mermaid
- Ruby red slippers
- A Tucker turret
- Russian olive trees
Now just think about that for a second or two. I have to write a tale of not more than 500 words and these four elements must be part of the story? Oh yeah, easy as pie, right?
And, here’s the best part! For one week you have the chance to go to The Iron Writer, read the stories, and vote for your favorite! Do it now, it’s lots of fun and you’ll find some really good stories there. We’re voting on Challenge #2 now. My story is in Challenge #2. Get the connection? Here’s your chance to read and vote for my little tale about Delores Delgado. Anyone want to hazard a guess who my main character is modeled after?
See ya at the voting booth!
