Today, The Misanthropologist asked the question, “Do you like going back and reading books you’ve already read? Have you ever felt that in re-reading a novel, you can gain a better understanding or appreciation of it?”
That got me thinking of books I’ve returned to again and again over the years. One of my favorites to re-read is Joe David Brown’s long out of print Stars in My Crown. I never tire of the story told by a boy about being raised by his Parson grandfather and grandmother. If you can find it, I’d strongly recommend you give it a read.

Jim L Wright has been a storekeeper, an embalmer, a hospital orderly, and a pathology medical coder, and through it all, a teller of tall tales. Many of his stories, like his first book, New Yesterdays, are set in his hometown of Piedmont, Alabama.
For seven years he lived in the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, Amman, Jordan where he spent his time trying to visit every one of the thousands of Ammani coffee shops and scribbling in his ever-present notebook.

I have re-read Chocolat by Joanne Harris so many times that I have lost count of it. There is something magical and rebellious about the main character that never fails to charm me away, every time I re-read the book.
